Our mission at Strictly Shine is simply to get more children moving more and enjoying the enormous physical and mental well-being benefits of dance!
Sharing our love of dance to get their hearts beating fast and their smiles beaming wider.
Simply for fun or to take exams and compete, whichever way you want to dance, we’ll help you shine on the dance floor and shine in life!
Don’t just take our word for it see what some of our fabulous dance family have to say…
Here at Strictly Shine we just want to get more children moving more and enjoying the enormous physical and mental well-being benefits dance.
We want to inspire them to learn new skills, express themselves, be creative and just have a go, in a warm and welcoming fun environment.
Their smiles will beam wider as their hearts beat faster and they will want to dance more, for sure!
Our amazing dance family has built up over the last eight years and always has room for one more.
Children of all ages and from all different backgrounds come together, in teams or in partnerships and build strong friendships.
This builds their social skills and extends their networks whilst helping them build life skills such as resilience, leadership and collaboration.
Furthermore, recent studies show a clear link between out of school activities and educational outcomes. Proving dance is a smart choice for all our children!
Through high quality teaching, spanning years of competitive and performance experience with world leading dance associations (IDTA, ISTD and RAD all feature in our teachers portfolios) we provide our children with loads of opportunities to SHINE on and off the dance floor!
Our life’s work is to empower children to find their own version of fabulousness; whether that’s shows, exams, competitions or just to show Grannie we will help them believe and achieve at Strictly Shine.
A thought from our founder…
It’s sometimes hard to know what to answer when someone asks me why dance? All my reflexes want to say why not? But, I forget, not every mum had their first dance shoes at 3 years old and can’t imagine a lazy Saturday morning without loud music and hoards of excitable children!
With increasing concerns about the physical and mental well-being of our children and the increased desire to get them off their devices and moving more here’s my top three reason why all of our children should love Dance…
1 – Love Moving
From shaking their arms in air to balancing on their tippy toes, dance gets the whole body moving. Building flexibility and increased range of motion as well as building strength and stamina. Getting more children moving more is our life goal here at Strictly Shine and we all know exercise improves sleep and boosts our immune system. What’s not to love about that?!
2 – Love Learning
Creating and mastering new choreography gets the brain making lots of exciting new connections. Improving memory skills and developing sensory awareness to not only Shine on the dance floor but at school and on the sports field too. I think that’s what we can a win win!
3 – Love Yourself and Each Other
From expressing emotions through performance to collaborating with partners and teams, enhanced emotional development is a much overlooked benefit of dance. Whether it’s persevering to master new moves or building emotional resilience to dance on when your partner messes it up it’s not hard to see how these little life lessons build confidence and self-esteem that will serve us in many more ways than just on the dance floor.
